Stewart School offers a dual track system (Regular French and French Immersion) to meet the needs of all students. There are many sports teams, clubs, music programs and activity groups. Students are involved not only in school activities but are making a difference through various community works.
Our staff encourage kids with a ‘growth mindset’ strategy for learning, and a focus on math and literacy. It is a safe and caring environment, where we offer healthy snacks, opportunities for community engagement, music lessons, extra clubs and have parents who contribute and care. Students are provided with opportunities for leadership and the development of positive relationship skills through cross grade activities. The Stewart School is working to engage Grade 6 students to participate in the parent school council meetings; providing feedback, new ideas and supporting fundraising initiatives and school-to-community events. The school is close to community events and activities for field trips and more direct experiential learning.
Our school staff work hard to make Stewart a great place for learning, supporting students academically in innovative ways such as improving classroom environments for a more child centered learning experience (The Third Teacher). Stewart encompasses the strategic plan goals of collaboration, resources, programming and wellness in many ways. Highlights are BYOD, snack program, and the Third Teacher classroom environment strategies.
Children who begin at Stewart, complete school at Stewart, with a high degree of success. The education and involvement is superior. Our school is newer and requires very little, if any, repairs or adjustments to accommodate more children. It is a perfect size to serve the community in which it resides. We have low teaching/staff turnover; staff are happy teaching at Stewart. There is a steady growth of student population; we are thriving.
Stewart school is a valuable centerpiece of the community during the school day and is very well used through with community use. The school is welcoming to parents and other members of the community who volunteer and participate to make it a vibrant, meaningful and valued place. There are many clubs, after-school programs, and sports programs for youth and adults who call Stewart their home. We have a new kindergarten playground, and a great yard used for lots of community sports, and community use in general. We are close to the Perth pool and Saltos gymnastics club.
Please do not hesitate to call the school (
